LinkedIn new Feature lets you share notice period & expected salary, only visible to Recruiters

Date:

As we all know, LinkedIn is one of the biggest giants of Job Portals. It’s not less than a community where you can share your insights and day-to-day activities. But what if I tell you that in the recent update, LinkedIn came up with a master plan that can benefit job seekers regarding how they connect with recruiters and seek the job they are trying to get.

In the latest update, LinkedIn allows recruiters to share their notice period and expected salaries directly on their LinkedIn profiles. Yes, there’s no more need for regular follow-ups and pitching, as you will be allowing recruiters to check the requirements before the communication to ease their understanding and suitability.

But for your acknowledgement, this feature is only for verified recruiters, which means only those verified by LinkedIn can view job seekers’ salary expectations and notice periods, not everyone. In this blog, let’s briefly explain how this new feature will benefit job seekers and recruiters.

Why is this Feature of LinkedIn crucial?

LinkedIn

LinkedIn’s new feature is a progress towards making the hiring process crystal clear, efficient, and transparent for job seekers and Recruiters. For years, we have all noticed that salary expectations and notice periods are the last things discussed during the hiring process, as before these, the Job model and experience are briefly discussed.

During the conversation, several things are left pending, like –

  • Recruiters are left unsawerd with the urgency and availability for the right candidate at the right time.
  • Several times, candidates’ or job seekers’ notice period is longer than the company’s accommodation policy requires.
  • Job seekers or candidates often ask for a salary above the company’s budget. On a single person, and several times, it’s less than the candidate’s request.

Due to all these miscommunications and mismatches, recruiters find it very difficult to hire deserving candidates, which results in a waste of time that could have been utilized in other functions of the company.

However, LinkedIn’s new feature allows job seekers to provide insight about their availability and salary expectations, reducing recruiters’ efforts and time. This will enable them to make a shortlist.

How to enable this new LinkedIn feature?

The present feature of LinkedIn allows job seekers to make their salary expectations and availability possible, which is categorized into the “Open to Work” or “Job Preferences” section at the candidate’s profile. There, candidates can fill out the necessities like –

  • Notice Period –

In this option, candidates can opt for Immediate availability and set the time zone to -1 month, 2 months, or their custom durations in days.

  • Expected salary –

In this feature, a candidate or job seeker can fill out the salary range expected per annum, that is, every year.

Remember –

Once you fill out the sections, this feature won’t be visible to your connections and network; it will only be accessible to the verified recruiters. It’s still not for the unverified recruiters because it’s a paid tool that only big professionals and companies use to find talent. The reason is simple: to avoid the peers and awkwardness for job seekers in front of the general public, and only registered ones can visit, as salary is sensitive info.

How is it a Strategic Opportunity for the Job Seekers?

For Job Seekers, this feature is bingo. It’s the best and one of the most strategic opportunities ever. If used wisely, it can really end their Job Hunt. Here are the reasons why –

  • An Ability to set your Expectations Earlier –

In a recent update, Job seekers were given a choice to clarify what price range they wanted to work in. That’s the clear filter, where you can avoid mismatched opportunities and work on your expectations. Salaries below your expectations won’t be on your radar.

  • Getting Noticed by Serious Recruiters –

In every company, Recruiters prefer to opt out and shortlist candidates with shorter notice periods to hire the desired representative as soon as possible. If you are immediately available, there is a high chance of recruiters coming to you with their job role, eventually increasing your search results.

  • By Avoiding Awkward Negotiations Later –

Many, including me, don’t like negotiating my salary expectations after a detailed communication about the job role. Several candidates went into peer pressure, but through this LinkedIn feature, recruiters align with your testimonials even before the communication starts, leading to smooth and quick negotiations.

  • By Maintaining Privacy while letting them know your availability –

This feature is like their dream come true for job seekers or candidates looking for a job change to a secretary position while already working in a firm. As this information is only visible to the recruiters with the badge, everyone, including your current employers, is hidden from your plans and proceedings.

For Recruiters, is it a faster and smarter hiring Funnel?

Job seekers benefit from LinkedIn’s new feature, and recruiters are also in line to take advantage of it. Their advantages with this update are as follows –

  • Assistance in Better screening of the Candidates –

A recruiter’s main task is to filter the candidates based on the salary and notice period expectations. Through this feature, recruiters can easily filter out candidates instantly to fit the company’s budget and hiring period to fill the vacancy. Recruiters got this advantage even before opting out through the message and communications.

  • Streamlines the Prospects -Reduced Back-and-Forth –

When the recruiters already have an opportunity to acknowledge the job seeker’s expectations and availability, the delayed conversation is avoided. This, in turn, allows them to streamline and focus on the other prospects that are initially vital for the company.

  • Allows improvement in Insights –

When everything is visible to recruiters, they become familiar with the insights about which pricing they can use to pit the candidates against each other to fill out their company’s post vacancy. This also allows them to budget the hiring process strategically.
